Chrissy and Patrick are wedding planning experts! Chrissy is an experienced planner, who is passionate about getting the details right, and Patrick is a math guy – focused on audits and process. That combination led to an absolutely stunning wedding at Philadelphia’s American Swedish Historical Museum.
Chrissy and Patrick toured 40 (!) venues in the Philadelphia area, so they had a really good sense of their options and what they were looking for. Chrissy said, “The moment we did an impromptu walk through of the American Swedish Historical Museum in Philadelphia, we both knew it was the perfect location for our big day. The venue offered elements of garden like outdoor space, tented dance floor, gorgeous indoor space (in case of rain) with the soundest event team in the business. We had the ability to customize so many elements and truly build the ideal vibe for our celebrations.”
A Garden Chic Wedding at American Swedish Historical Museum
The ASHM is a true gem of a wedding venue, with indoor and outdoor options and bold and ornate architecture. I love that the guests have access to the public spaces during the wedding, so they can browse galleries in the in-between times, featuring original period paintings, furniture, and textiles. There’s also something special about investing in a venue that provides a public resource and preserves the rich cultural history of the area.
Chrissy and Patrick decided to hold their wedding the idyllic outdoor space at the American Swedish Historical Museum. It was a beautiful outdoor setting, with a garden-like feel, and all the details carefully thought out and executed.
It all started with Bumble…
Patrick and Chrissy met at the swipe of a finger on the Bumble dating app. Chrissy had relocated back to Philly and was reluctant at first to join such apps, but then to her surprise, struck gold. On one special night in June, this Gemini and Aries met for Sunday night vino and the rest was history – filled with endless hangs and early introductions to our families and friends. Chrissy’s family has fondly called Patrick “Uncle Bumble” ever since.
Both Patrick and Chrissy come from large families. “We both love just how much family means to one another with Patrick the youngest of 5 and Chrissy the youngest of 9. ” Their love for each other was obvious throughout their engagement session and through their wedding. Patrick loves how Chrissy is able to make him laugh no matter the day, and Chrissy can’t get enough of how devoted and thoughtful Patrick is — Never missing an opportunity to give a heartfelt card.
A Perfect Day at American Swedish Historical Museum
Chrissy and Patrick’s wedding was on a beautiful spring day in May. The pinks and greens in their floral and bridesmaid dresses complimented the season perfectly. And they assembled a star-studded vendor team that I am lucky to work alongside still to this today.

Favorite Moments from their Wedding Day
“Well, here’s two — To begin the day, we each delivered and read cards from one another. We couldn’t even begin to absorb all of the feelings brewing up on a sunny day in May.” Patrick was blown away with the raw emotions of reading Chrissy’s excitement in becoming his wife, while Chrissy was brought to tears by Patrick’s sentimental words with risk of wiping away her makeup so much so that she asked her bridesmaid to step in and read it to her. And #2 you ask? “Well, wedding planning was complicated, and we never got to those dance lessons. Right before walking out to be introduced, we had a few moments to be together — just the two of us. We practiced our first dance as Patrick sang the lyrics to “Coming Home” by Leon Bridges, learning the steps together on the fly.”
From the beginning, Chrissy and I connected deeply. I noticed immediately that Chrissy and Pat appreciated the value I put on sentiment. We knew right away that I was meant to be their photographer. My general rule is that if I feel like my clients are my friends, I’m winning. That’s how it felt with Chrissy and Pat!
There’s always a different energy the morning of a wedding day. We’re all hoping family members are on time, that florals arrive, that someone has the invitation, that someone has the rings. You name it. If you let yourself, you can find plenty to preoccupy your mind. Well, this crew had it together and really supported one another. It was super cool to see everyone come together and share words of encouragement amongst tears of joy. It was a true testament of the strength of the crew Chrissy and Pat have in their corner.
Their ceremony was full of love for the people in their life. Family and friends played musical roles, and naturally all the nieces and nephews were in the bridal party!
