Old City Philadelphia Charm
Megan and Julian met at a mutual friend’s wedding in Philadelphia and reconnected five years later. Later on in their relationship, they moved to Old City Philadelphia. Even though they live now live in Washington D.C., they knew they wanted to go back to the area where they fell in love.
Julian lived and worked in Old City at the beginning of their relationship and, after a few months of long commutes from Upstate New York, Megan moved in full time. Their first date was dinner at Buddakan, followed by drinks at Time, and ending at their favorite bar Glory. You bet we stopped at Glory for some of their engagement pictures!
From Megan:
“We centered [our engagement session] around where we lived in Old City so we could capture ourselves and all the memories we have made there. The Merchant Exchange Building area was the perfect spot because it felt timeless. There is a small cobblestone path that we have walked down many times on our way home. We stumbled on John F. Collins Park in Center City when attending another wedding, so we immediately knew it was the perfect spot to convey our casual look that felt cozy—especially for a pocket park in autumn!”
Philadelphia Fall Engagement
Philly is a sweet place to be any time of the year, but there is something magical about Philly in the fall. The golden hues and falling leaves make it feel soft and cozy. I love that Megan and Julian weren’t afraid to lay on the ground and the park, because those pictures are some of my favorites.
They also nailed their fall looks. They chose several different outfits “that showed [their] personalities while capturing [them] in the moment that not only felt romantic but had a spontaneous feeling.” Their pictures feel natural and playful and truly reflect their relationship. I loved the coziness and class of their long jackets, and the dressed-up look that made it feel like they were going out on a romantic date.
Old City Love
I love being a wedding photographer because I get to spend time with couples during the happiest moments of their lives. Before and during engagement sessions, we talk about the couple and their love, their favorite things about each other, and their visions for their lives together. Julian and Megan’s love was so authentic, and it was a pleasure just to be in their presence.
Here’s what the couple has to say about their love: (I LOVE that they both referenced a feeling of home!)
Julian: From the moment I met Megan she always felt like home. Her thoughtfulness, her beauty, her gentle blue eyes, I knew I was in trouble from Day One. It also helps that her goofy sense of humor matches mine!
Megan: If the feeling of home could be a person, it would be Julian. He is such a genuinely kind person and a joy to be around. He is the calm to my storm and holds such a wonderfully positive outlook on everything in life. I know I can count on him for anything, and he will always do things with a side of humor. Along with his beautiful hair and looks, he has added such love and light into my life by simply being him.
I can’t wait to photograph their wedding in 2025! If you’re looking for a Philadelphia photographer, please reach out! I’d love to be part of your day.
From the couple:
“From the first moments when we reached out to her with our ideas to the day of our engagement shoot, we knew we picked the perfect person to capture this special moment. She has been communicative, flexible, and open to all of our ideas and questions. We enjoyed watching her work and could tell how passionate she is about her craft. Most of all, when we saw her work we immediately loved her eye for composition and how she captured moments so uniquely and naturally. We couldn’t be happier and we can’t wait for her to photograph our wedding!”
